INDIGENOUS WRITER PROMOTES CULTURE AT WRITERS INTERACTIVE NETWORK

Writers Interactive Network (WIN) played host to Ololade Ajayi, poet and short story writer, at its recent guest writer session on the 10th of October 2018 at QuickSpace Health Place, Ikeja Lagos.

Ololade Ajayi's style of writing is said to be distinct in that she promotes her cultural heritage through the use of Poetry. The writer, who is the Author of a collection of poems, titled “We the People” thrilled the audience at the WIN monthly meeting to a couple of poems written in her native dialect (Ekiti dialect) .

Responding to questions asked about inspiration for the book at the event , Ololade said that she believes that language is the first medium by which thoughts are processed and therefore a writer has to fully explore and harness his or her language to effectively communicate. In the collection are also satiric poems that reflects the state of her nation, Nigeria.

The Writers Interactive Network is a platform that comprises of Nigerian writers of all genres both at home and in the diaspora. WIN holds its monthly meeting every second Saturday of the month at QuickSpace Health Place, 44 community Road Allen Avenue, Ikeja Lagos.
