Ololade Ajayi, at the Launch of We The People |
A poet has the ability to reinforce the power of the
Nigerian people to change their destiny by provoking deep conversations about the political reality of the Nation.
This statement was made by Femi Falana, A senior Advocate of Nigeria at
the launch of the Book, “We The People” at Sheba Centre, Ikeja Lagos on the
22nd of December 2017.
The book, we the people written by Ololade Ajayi, is a
collection of satiric poems, that reaffirms the importance of accountable and
democratic governance as critical for ensuring peace, as depicted in her poem
titled 'We The People' (which is the theme of the book) wherein she stitches past
and present events in the country into a surreal note
The Book Reviewer, Mr. Femi Falana, SAN, who was represented at
the event by his daughter, Folakemi Falana, described the book as a
fully developed artistic and literary piece that comprises not only poems, but
culture and politics in a magnificient alignment.

The book comprises of five parts namely:
- infamous laments
- Lagos the Rumi
- Orisun: The Source (Poems written in Ekiti
Dialect)
- Dialectical Love poems
- Faculty of Mentaphors
Several of the Poems were performed by the Author and
members of her Poetry group (Loudthotz Poets) to the delight of the audience,
who were especially thrilled at the musical interlude of the Ekiti Dialect
poems.

The chairman of the occasion, Ms. Nike Adegoke, the General Manager of Bond FM 92.9 Lagos also added to the glitz of the event by reciting
offhand some poems in Yoruba language. she also commended the author of "We The People" saying that Ololade's effort at artistically expressing herself in her dialect should be lauded especially at a time when interest in indigenous languages are waning.
